At ¥5,000 for a course of 13 nigiri, Sushi Ochiai offers one of the most valuable sushi omakase lunch deals in Tokyo (Sushi Iwa is another great option for tuna).
Situated in the heart of Higashi Ginza in a nondescript office building, Ochiai is manned by a one man enterprise: sushi chef Shinya Ochiai. The 7-seater edomae style sushi-ya is an intimate space, with chef Shinya-san preparing all of his customers’ dishes, nigiri and drinks by himself. His sushi neta may not be of stunning quality, but there were a couple of good pieces like the baby katsuo, creamy bafun uni and anago (prefer the piece with shio and yuzu). Given the price and ease of booking, Ochiai remains of our go-to lunch spots for a quick and satisfying sushi fix.
